February 15, 2009

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I did and I think I made it special for my family too. Connor had a friend overnight. We got up and went to Basketball practice at 8:00 a.m. :( but my little man was scrimmaging and got a HOOP! He was thrilled!

After that we came home got Doug & Tim and went out for Breakfast at our most favorite breakfast spot... Benton's Sugar Shack! OH YUM! It was fun & delicious as usual.
When we got home I ran down the oil man on Main Street to tell him I'd like another oil delivery... Much to his delight! Being a family friend it was easy for him to tell me that pretty women don't typically chase him down on Main street and I wanted to give him money too! What good laugh we had over that! He went to my house delivered my oil and took my money LOL!
Today we're going to be at the a Basketball Tournament from 12:30-5pm tonight... There goes my annual Daytona 500!! I'm going for my little man Connor though and I'd do anything for him. There will be pictures posted of that later. I'll have to edit this post... He's not excited about being there all day but I told him it will be fun and in the end he'll be glad he was there! I hope I'm right ;) TTFN I've got to get a move on!

February 11, 2009

Life yesterday and today... I'm not sure which word has appeared in my mind more... so I'll just jot down some of them. Weather, Ice, Fear, Thankfulness, Sorrow, Pain, Confusion, Greatful, Helpless, Hopeful, Blessed, Loved, Blank, Emotional but Emotionless. I'm sure there is more but for now this will do.

Yesterday I left work and went to the store. From the store I began my ride home in the freezing rain. It is the worst ice I've driven on since 1978. I was 18 then and went up the hill my father told me not too and my Pinto turned sidways in the middle of the hill. I was scared then and I was scared lastnight. Driving up the highway I got to mile marker 93 and saw two cars break lights off on the right side of the road. Thinking the road may be slippery and assuming they were on the side for a reason I slowed down. Before getting to the first car I could see that a car had done a whoopti-do in the road to the left bounced off the bank and over to the right. That person was out of their car on the snowbank calling for help. Then there was another car, I put my breaks on to slow more and I was sliding because my breaks kept locking up! I pumped them slower, but each time they would lock. I got past and around the corner then it looked like a demolision derby on 93 North!!! I know there was one car on each side of the road and my truck wouldn't stop and I was headed toward the median side, so I said "Please God let this work" as I remembered that I was in two wheel drive not four. I reached down pulled as hard as I could to put it into 4X4... gave her a little gas and the front end started to pull a bit into control so thankfully I got between the two cars and was now clear. My mind is a blank at this point... but I remember counting 10 cars in a 1/4 mile from the first car to exit 30, calling 911 and getting off at exit 30! OM GOSH! I wanted to stop to see if someone needed help but I knew it would only be worse if I stopped because nobody else could stop or control their cars! S-C-A-R-E-D!!! Later that night my son (who works for the State) called to see if I was home and tell me to watch the news because someone died on the highway. It is someone we know... I watched the news, they didn't release the name but I knew the car and it confirmed what Jason heard. My boys went to school with the man's children. My heart is so heavy for this family right now. The ride tonight, in the rain through that very same area of road was gut wrenching for me... It could have been me that also ran into the group of cars and people out of their cars. It was not though and I know it was only because the Lord reached down and safely guided me through the mess....... I'll get better but I just can't express the way I feel right now. These are meer words and don't match the sorrow I feel. Also I feel thankful but because he was so seriously injured I ask how can I praise God for getting through when such a productive citizen and parent, husband etc didn't make it in the blink of an eye. My prayer is for this family to be tremendously blessed despite this early loss that his children and family continue making him proud.

It's almost 10pm and 38 degrees out tonight. I should go to bed soon since I had difficulty getting to sleep lastnight... R.I.P. NGUI SHOU I will not forget the terror of this tragic nite.

Good day everyone!

I'm home today just kicking back cleaning up emails, updating Facebook and my blog. I should check out MyFamily.com and update that too but it's been ages. I think all my relatives are going to have to hook up with me on Facebook! ;) We'll see and here.

Lastnight my granddaughter Catrenia spent the night with us and in a little bit I'll take her to Nana's house so she can spend time there then around 4 or 5 her Daddy will pick her up for dinner before returning to her Mom's. I took her out with me lastnight to a friends for stamping and scrapbooking and we had fun! Connor had her convinced it would be boring but it wasn't. We ate dinner with my friend and another new friend Sherri. Karen made Lasagna, I brought salad and Sherri made an awesome Bannana Split pudding whipped cream desert dish! YUM! YUM! It was all delicious. I scrapbooked 3 pages and Catrenia made a card with the help of Karen & Sherri. I'll post the pictures below.

Well, it's 37 degrees today sometimes sunny and sometimes rainy and sometimes sleeting! That's life in New Hampshire... They say if you don't like the weather just wait a minute! I'm liking it because Spring is on it's way. You can just see it and smell it. Sure we'll have plenty of Winter weather to come but this is just a hint that Spring is on it's way back.

This is it for now I've got to get something done around here this afternoon other than being on the computer! Ha! Doug's thinking he's a technology widower ;)

These are my boys!! Connor a few years ago when we went to the Fort Wayne Zoo in Fort Wayne, Indiana and then beside that is Jason, Travis & Spencer when we went out for Chinese on Travis' 18th birthday! I love my boys but you didn't know that did you??? I'm a little slow as you can tell also because Travis is now 22! LOL!

I went to the doctor today to follow up on my laryngitis/breathing issues... Well, we had a good little chat and I have to do a lab test to check for some sort of bacteria, a blood test to check my thyroid, being referred to an allergist and also gasterentologist (spelling?) We'll see if we can narrow down the causes and get some control to this thing that makes me just plain miserable not just another plain jane! I'll keep you posted. I'm feeling a little better but I still think there's much room for improvement!

I have to go sorry for the quick update but Lost is on and it's almost 9pm... that's when the one from last week stops and the new show comes on for this week! I love LOST!

February 2, 2009

Happy Ground Hog Day!! He saw his shadow so you know what that means??? WT Heck was that all about?? Can't we get a break? He's still cute though!

Well, lastnight I tried to update my blog with pictures and little writing about our Superbowl adventure but I messed that all up! Check out my facebook site http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=592611290&ref=profile Then you can look at the pictures and pssst! Add me as your friend, (or not). I hope this works tonight!

Well, we drove over to Steve & Pam's lastnight and came home. Thought we might stay overnight but you know what I just like my own bed... It's so difficult to get rest anyway so it was early enough and I drove home. The frost heaves coming over the mountain (Rt 118...) are like driving through peaks and valleys all by themselves though! The snowbanks make it tempting to just pretend you're on a bobsled run using your own vehicle to get to the bottom! No, seriously if you can get up to 25 or 3o miles an hour it was only to put the breaks right back on for the next bump (MOUNTAIN)!
So, I cheered for Arizona because of you Uncle Mark! Payback for all the years I harrased you into cheering for the Patriots, well, I thought it was fair.

It was overcast today but fairly warm, as it goes in the north country that is. I'm not sure how much snow we're getting tomorrow so I guess it will be a surprise! Connor has another basketball game tomorrow night so not sure I'll be here as I'll probably be there. Ha! More than likely "you can't get there from here" so who really knows where I'll be?? Oops! There I go again being silly!
Hey, I'll add some pic's from lastnight for you ;)
